It became tedious,completely illogical how relentlessly she rejected him. Sebastian doesn't know anything about the Lore, his supernatural world and can't understand why she repeatedly runs away from him.
Against his dying pleas, Nikolai turned him into a vampire so that he could "live". Her ability to feel emotions was removed. Sebastian hated that he was a vampire. Before they even exchange names, Kaderin starts to FEEL and Sebastian's heart starts to BEAT and they have rough, lightning filled sex in the crumbling castle.4. He stayed for centuries in the crumbling castle "alive" as an undead. He gave her amazing sex. She became the most ferocious cold blooded killer of the Valkyrie and was feared by all supernatural beings.3. When he arrived, he fought ferociously but his parents and sisters were already dying of the plague.
Kresley Cole has great story telling skills, inventive and engrossing stories, interesting characters, a fine writing style, but in this book, Cole must have been rushed and left her many skills trailing behind.1. The moment, Kaderin sees Sebastian, she hesitates once more. This one is the weakest of the series. Bride: Kaderin.
He hated that he had been robbed of a "normal" life, to love, to have a family. She was fighting off vampires from the HORDE, when she hesitated for a moment to see her sisters murdered by vampires. She was overcome by grief and guilt. At this writing, I have read A Hunger Like No Other, Dark Needs at Night's Edge, Dark Desires After Dusk, and this one, No Rest for The Wicked. Conflict: Kaderin despises vampires and since Sebastian is a vampire she despises him. This is despite the fact that Sebastian has supernaturally given her back emotions and he is the most desirable male she has ever lusted after. He becomes a supernatural stalker.What bothered me the most was that even though Kaderin's gift of no emotions had been removed by Sebastian, she repeatedly did the meanest, most despicable loathsome things to him. She was heartless, cruel and an insufferable bitch to Sebastian over and over again.
He is gorgeous, he has never loved another female. He was found by his elder brothers, Nikolai and Murdoch, dying from wounds and injuries he received while he was defending his home from Russian invaders. He rescues her over and over again, selflessly gives her everything she wants and needs and she stomps on his heart.The Talisman's Hie was at first an interesting peek into the Lore, but after a while, it became as illogical and inconsistent as Kaderin's cruelty.The only entertaining part of the book was the injection of Kaderin's Valkyrie sisters. Heroine: Kaderin. In order to live, she was given a gift. He, alone, awoke her emotions, her feelings after centuries of no joy, no happiness. Regin is a hoot, her "help" to Kaderin in some of the Talisman's Hie challenges were funny in what is otherwise a humorless chase between a besotted vampire and his boring love object, Kaderin the Cold Hearted.
Now, this book could have been better because encountered a little more drama than what I was comfortable with. I like how Kresley Cole writes. I study phylosophy and believe me when I go out from university I want noting more but some easy to handle although sexy reading. Neverteless it is fun and it works fairly well keeping you interested from the beginning until the last page.An important thing to note here is that this book is fairly connected with the next on ein the saga: "Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night" which by the way deserves 5 stars. if you look at this book and the next as one book it would be great, with this I mean: buy them together so you can read the third as soon as you drop this one, that way everything will make sense and you will enjoy it more.This one is not as romantic as the first but it is very sexy.
His total determination to win her over is what makes this a great one for me. Overall, I liked the backdrop to the story with them going through the Talisman's Hie. But instead, when they make contact he becomes blooded and recognizes her as his bride. The book grabs you from the very beginning where he is ready to die and puts up no fight when Kaderin the Cold Hearted is sent to kill him. The second installment of the IAD series, No Rest for the Wicked, was a fantastic read. Her character was a little too cold for me to really care about. But with him, she is suddenly feeling things and this scares her as well. Kaderin is also void of emotions.thus the Cold-Hearted part of her name.
Compared to the others it comes in at around 4th place. Kaderin, on the other hand, is the most reluctant Lore creature to have been matched with a vampire. The loved the tormented character of Sebastian Wroth. The love scenes were good, especially the ones in her apartment :) But if I could I would have given this 4 1/2 stars because it is not the best in the series. He is strong and unapologetic in his quest to win her heart. Her hatred and distrust for all vampires, whether their eyes are red or not is only one of the challenge that Sebastian has to overcome. It is still really good, but I was never able to truly get on board with Kaderin. I loved Sebastian and wanted him to succeed, but I wasn't pulling for Kaderin in the same way.
Great STORY LINE. Wasn't exactly like the first which was a relief and such an attention grabber. LOVED IT.
Looking at this book as a romantic novel, there is no way this story could be less than five star. The writing was so good, the characters so evolved.and the romance was actually romantic.and hot hot hot. If if I were to look at it as a paranormal tale without the main focus on the romance I would still give it between 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Cole never loses sight of the fact that romance or not, she has to keep the story flowing.
I recently found that I do enjoy some of the paranormal romance stories out there, but they aren't as near and dear to me as their cousins, urban fantasy. I find that after awhile they all are formulatic and all you need to do to read a different book is change the couple's names and the location of the story. She moaned." Somehow Kresley makes her scenes unbelieveably erotic and unique. So when she meets Sabastian she wants his head.
But its going to take a lot of effor on Sabastian's part to convince her of that. After reading so many romances sometimes the love scenes feel more like you are reading an instruction manaul ie: "Phillip inserted tab A into Manuella's slot B. I actually don't skip ahead the sex scene pages and I do that far too often when I read. "No Rest For the Wicked" continued to be unique and exciting. I am not a huge fan of romance books.
But soon she finds that he isn't an evil vampire, or an evil person. He recognizes that she is to be his Bride. When Kaderin signs up on to be in a Legendary Hunt, an otherworld version of the Amazing Race, Sabastian joins her.willing to offer help she doesn't want to accept. There is enough story here, enough action in their journey to more than keep my interest in the book. This 'gift' helps Kaderin become a kick butt figter and force to be reckoned with. After seeing the Immortals After Dark showing up on my recommendation list for ages I read "A Hunger Like No Other" awhile back and I was floored. The love scenes are plentiful but they don't overtake the story.
This story was about Kaderin, a Valkyrie, who was 'gifted' with the inability to feel. She unabashedly kills vampires from the Horde, evil and killing bloodsuckers. And unlike other paranormal romances (some I enjoy), this book is nothing like its predecessor. I eagerly anticipate reading the next books in this series.
